A century of precision

This project involved a complete hydraulic press rebuild. It required removal of the press, breakdown, assessment, and machining and assembly, including a complete electronic and hydraulic overhaul. It brought the client’s press operation up to code with required safety features.

Brodeur Machine collaborated with Capco Crane to design and build a 32-foot diameter, 60-ton capacity turntable. The custom fabrication was designed to aid in a 24/7 continuous operation for a film manufacturing process as part of a food distribution procedure. The film is paid out vertically and, with the help of the custom turntable, it was allowed to go up and out a 100 feet without getting twisted, tangled, or corrupted. The constant motion provided a solution for managing the issues they were experiencing in getting their product out the door.

This fabrication utilized a number of services in our shop. The end product: a large,15’ x 8.25’, A36 steel water collector used in strip casting machinery. It required complete weldment in our dedicated fabrication shop, then moved over to machining on one of our horizontal boring mills, followed by seam sealing, and a custom paint system application. Having the ability to keep all of these functions within our control resulted in a happy customer and a quality assembly.

This project involved a winderblock rehab and retrofit. Brodeur used the client’s existing winderblock that had been crushed by repeated use/hoop stress, and built back the OD, ground parallel, and machined new slot to accept updated assembly. Milled all new proprietary gripper assembly components, installed, and machined block complete. Replaced all bearings and gears.

Fabrication of two new cylinders for a long-time customer. These cylinders go into a large metal scrap baler. It required a few areas of our shop to produce a final part. We rough-machined the flanges and tube faces to length and machined the mating features to tight dimensions to receive the flanges for proper fit without interference━all while maintaining close alignment for the tubes and flanges to be welded. The tubes and flanges were then welded and honed and the holes on the face of the flanges were drilled and threaded. A quick job when you have the right equipment and people to move it through.
